What is high brightness (Sunlight readable LCD)?
This LCD can be watched under bright sunlight or out of outdoors with more than 1,000~2,000cd/㎡ brightness.
Normal LCD with 250~500cd/㎡ brightness can’t be watched under bright sunlight more brighter than LCD out of doors.
There are many methods to make high brightness LCD, but correction of back light is most common.
Otherwise, visibility can be improved by reducing reflection of light on the screen with application of AR (Anti-Reflective) film on the LCD or optical bonding can minimize scattering of light by filling resin which has the same material with glass between tempered glasses.
Recently, Transflective Technology that raises penetration rate of ramp light by replacing polarizer with transflective type is also popular aside from application of AR film.
Applied examples are outdoor advertisement, outdoor ATM and KOSK and fish finder and recently it is widely used for normal monitors including show window advertising.

How to add BLU (Back Light Unit)
High brightness back light technology is mostly applied to watch out of doors.
People choose it since it is twice brighter than normal LCD and it can be shown more vividly than normal LCD without sunlight despite of low effectiveness under sunlight.
Two ways are possible to implement high brightness back light.
Firstly, you can replace or add film that improves brightness of back light with special film. It has twice or three times brighter effectiveness. Mostly, BEF (Brightness Enhancement Film) is replaced with DBEF (Dual Brightness Enhancement Film.)
However, you can’t enhance brightness by this means if the existing LCD is already applied to DBEF.
Secondly, you can add more ramps and it has more than four times brighter effectiveness. Inverter should be also developed (LED driver for LED.)

Application of AR (Anti-Reflective) Film
AR coating in front side of protection glass to reduce reflection of light or dazzling can enhance visibility a little by reducing reflective rate of light on surface, but it has low effectiveness since it can’t remove reflective rate on the back of protection glass.

Transflective Polarizer Technology
Polarizer can be replaced with transflective type to enhance visibility together with AR film application. In other words, polarizer attached to the bottom glass of LCD is replaced with transflective type. Light from back light is penetrated as usual, but outside lights is reflected back. As a result, it enhances the brightness about 15%.

Optical Bonding
Protect glass or touch glass on the LCD reduces the brightness since space between LCD and protection glass produces considerable amount of scattering light
Scattering light can be reduced by filling optical resin that has the same material with glass to the space
This technology is called Optical Bonding or Glass Bonding.
AR coating on the surface of protection glass, not on that of LCD, has more effectiveness.
